Default ALMS Racing

OK. I know I am new here but I did want feedback on this.

I have been in discussions for about 12 months with several people/ entities about doing an ALMS team for GT2. Recently, discussions have changed course because of American Manufacturer woes and we are considering not having an American based car for the team. I have, both now and at times prior to, been pushing towards an Aston Martin Vantage GT2 for the team car. We do not want to be in GT1 for many reasons,

IS the fan base in the US sufficient for an Aston Martin following and why do you feel an Aston following is better than others?

Any feedback is good. We are to the point where we are beginning our search for sponsors/ team partners and the economy has made that difficult but with the advantages we offer, I am sure it will come together. We have two primary drivers, team management, motorsports hall of famers looking to help out and even a TV show in the works!

Your thoughts please on the team or otherwise would be greatly appreciated.

Matt

Default Update

I will provide an update to my post even though it seems there is no interest...

Our team has finally selected Aston Martin as the car manufacturer and we have been working with Aston Martin for about the last 2 months.

Our sponsorship agent is confident we will be ready to go for a full season in the ALMS for 2010 beginning testing by December of this year.

Would anyone be interested in car corrals at races? Is there anything special an Aston MArtin owner/fan that you would like to see from a race team?

Looking to begin a discussion here.

Matt

I would not think so. Outside of the East and West coasts, Aston has a very low profile.

True. Aston does have a very low profile and we hope to help change that. It all has to do with a distribution of income. East and West coast are generally going to have more affluent areas. I live in Florida and it is far different here than when I was in Charlotte, NC.

Thanks for the reply.

As you well know, I can't reveal many details but yes, we are receiving some factory support.

Good luck. It would be great to see Aston develop more of a following in the US.

I was looking for a road legal Aston N24 a year ago. The N400 seemed too compromised. Could not find one.

Default Event

Matt, I am the brand manager for Aston Martin of Beverly Hills. Call me when you get a chance. I would love to do some sort of an event with your racing team.

Matt,

I am glad to hear the factory is backing a team now. Last year I had heard there was a team on the East working a deal and they switched last minute to Porsche.
