DB7 Vantage - Disk (?) error with Alpine CD disk changer

Hi,

I just acquired a 2001 DB7 Vantage with Alpine audio system and Alpine 6 CD disk changer in the trunk. The CD player does not function any more (it did until a week ago). When I select CD player as a source it says "D3 error".
I took out the disk holder, changed the CDs in the holder and put it back in, but this did not help . Does anyone know a cure for this problem?

From what I've seen, it's not uncommon for the unit it's self to fail. These same CD players are used in Ferraris and what not also...problematic there also.
