Angry Door Locking Problems

Hi everyone, I am a new member so I apologize if this issue has been covered before. I could find no reference in a search of past forums.

I have a 2007 Vantage (stick) which has given me 3+ years of motoring joy. The only car in the entire world that I would exchange it for is a DBS (of course) but the wife is relucant to let me drop a $Quarter Mil on a car so I guess I'll have to wait a few years until I can pick up a used one for half price.

Anyway, my Vantage had been very reliable up until the alarm system started playing up (it went off for no reason more-or-less every time I locked the car). After the dealership fixed the problem (replaced the alarm unit I understand) the doors started spazzing out. When locking the car with the remote key fob the lights often flash to indicate the signal was received but there is no sound of the locks engaging and the doors remain unlocked. Other times the locks do seem to engage (you hear the thunk) but only the driver's door will be locked, the passenger door remains unlocked. If I do it again the passenger door locks but the driver's door unlocks. Most of the time the only way I can secure the car is to lock each door manually with the key. Needless to say this is infuriating. When I am on my own I end up walking round the car half-a-dozen times checking the doors etc!

Naturally I have taken it back to the dealership and of course they found nothing wrong. The locking system performed perfectly while the car was in the service department and the on-board computer has no record of any issues. This despite the fact that 80% of the time it screws around for me!

Has anyone had a similar experience? Were you able to get it fixed and what was the problem? Perhaps if I can point the technician in the right direction he might be able to resolve this issue before I blow a gasket!

Thanks for your help.

Yours in Aston Martin Motoring Heaven,

Tony Martyn

My opinion is that there is a glitch in the software for the module.

no idea, but you can show the dealership a live test saw and they should repair it.

Default I had same door locking problems

I had the same problems with the door locking. Never the alarm problems you mentioned. I had to lock the passenger door with the hard key, not FOB. I took it in to Galpin Aston Martin in Los Angeles, and they fixed it under warranty. I don't know what they did, but after they fixed it, I never had that problem again. I had various other problems the two years I owned my V8 Vantage, but that's another story.
