Default Letter to Aston Martin CEO RE: 2010 DB9 Lemon (Florida, USA)

Hi Everyone,

I recently had a terrible experience buying a New Aston Martin 2010 DB9 from the Palm Beach, FL dealership. The car has been in the shop for 30+ days without a resolution and as a result I have filed for Lemon Law protection and written a personal letter to the CEO of Aston Martin (link below since the file was above 1 MB) detailing my experience.

If you are thinking about buying a new Aston Martin, please take 5 minutes and read this letter. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Best of luck in resolving this issue. The problem to me is a single issue, the Dealer allowed a car to be delivered to a customer that was not 100%, period. All that has transpired since delivery is on the Dealer.

The salesperson was aware of this problem and diagnosed it from the passenger seat, brilliant. Did the salesperson report the issue to the Service Dept prior to you taking delivery?

I recently purchased a low mileage 2007 DB9. Before taking delivery I required the seller to have the AM dealer perform the 140 point inspection, and service updates along with verification of the vehicle history. After completion I would agree to take delivery of the car.

The AM dealer did a stellar job on the inspection. Subsequent to the purchase I have established a relationship with my local AM Dealer. My experience has been first class in every way, I will be taking the car to the dealer next week to complete a few upgrades to the car.

I sincerly hope that your situation will be resolved to your complete satisfaction.

John

Smile DB9 owner

Hi Tom
What an experience you have had !! I have owned two db9's and have been very satisfied with both of them. There is no question in my mind (not that it counts) that the dealership should give you a new car. I would never have put up with all the problems you have experienced. I think you have shown a lot of patience and given them more than enough time to fix any "minor" problems the car might of had.
I am very curious to hear the the outcome of this. Please keep us updated.
Best of luck to you.

Any news/answers from AM? What happened to you is incredible. It is very rare and AM should have helped you from the start as the car you bought was not at all what was expected. What happened is not understandable. Hope you got the right results. My brother will soon be in the market for a new GT and a DB9 is on his list.

This is a very curious situation, indeed. I'd like to know, Mr. Silverman, how you favored in this matter.

Any update?

I'm interested in hearing a resolution to this problem as well. Did Aston Martin respond? Did the dealership respond?

Tom

This is terrible that we've to struggle on getting such luxurious car back....and good that you've complained...I hope in future, they'll not repeat the same with other customers.

Default Update

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for sharing your comments and concerns. The matter was resolved after approximately 6 months of going back and forth with Aston Martin Corporate (UK) and the dealer in Palm Beach.

Basically what ended up happening was Aston Martin Corporate agreed to replace the lemon car that we had purchased with a different 2010. This took place after 5 letters and faxes directly to the CEO (Dr. Bez), none of which were ever responded to directly by him, nor were any of the calls that we made either. The matter was handed off to someone else who eventually authorized a new car as a substitute after being threatened with a law suit.

However, since there were no 2010 models in black left (all had been sold), a new deal was cut for a 2012 Virage that we were able to purchase essentially at the dealer's cost from Aston Martin. Car hit 5500 miles last week and not a single problem so far (fingers crossed).

Lesson learned, do not let corporate companies push you around especially if it is obvious you have been wronged as a customer, especially when buying a 200K+ luxury car.

Congrats on getting this terrible issue resolved. A lot of us (if you are old enough) have had a nightmare or two in dealing with cars and dealers. I hope this has not soured you on the mark.
