THere was a brief discussion on the new Jaguar XKR on Top Gear last night. Final comment was that it was a DB9 for GBP 50,000 off. Comments ?

well, what do you expect the car is designed by the same guy
besides it was the same thing with the DB7 & the XK
altough the shown car is still a prototype and some things will change, like how the trunk opens, it will remain a lot like that. and yes, it might be cheaper but i will still go for the Aston instead of the Jag.
Jags are a pretty normal sight around here

hard to command a GBP 50k premium for a different trunk .......
I think Aston needs to maintain a very seperate design department from Jaguar if it wants to survive.

here's a quote from the designer (Ian Callum)
safety regs cause their profiles to look alike, but detailing such as window shape & panel curvature set Jags & Astons apart

What B****S. If this was true than all cars would look very similar. last time I checked a Mini Cooper was significantly different from a Roll-Royce Phantom.
A more accurate quote would be, I got lazy and did not feel like designing an all new car for the Jag.
