Gearstick!

Hiya! New to the forum! I`m not an owner unfortunately but have driven a few and I would say that they are the best driving car Ive found! Now, the main reason Im on here is to ask a question about the gearsticks in the manual versions. Im a mechanic in a small garage in Surrey and one of our customers brought his DB7 in with the gearstick snapped off just below the gearknob! Is this a common problem? We`ve not taken it apart as I think our customer is going to get in touch with AM to see if there is anything they can do about it as he has his car serviced regularly at the AM dealer. Would like to know if anyone has had similar problems! Cheers in advance!


1st time I have heard of it. I would definitely call Aston and have them replace it. It should not ever happen.

Well I`ve been doing cars for a living360 was quite a pleasant drive!

I have heard of it happening a few times on older sports cars that have very long sticks. Normally it is due to poor quality steel, age, and an overly enthusiastic driver. However no excuse for this happening on a DB7.

Well what can I say?!! It was a Vanquish, my luck by mentioning the word summer!

The Vanquish is a beautiful looking car but talking to a few owners, very heavy on the wallet and the gearbox does not deal with traffic well at all. I would love to own one at some point but it would have to be as a 3-4th car.

So far the best drivers car I have owned is a Ferrari F50. Pure to the nth degree.
