Default Vanquish Values

In the UK, seems that Vanquish prices have held over the last year and actually gone up a small bit. Do you think the trend will continue or will early cars start depreciating again towards the end of the year?

It is an interesting and not a simple question to ask.
So far I would say that the prices would continue to go up.
This is because the Vanquish started to depreciate progressively as new, more refined Astons have come out in the last years or so.

Initially customers were looking for better build quality, a more refined powertrain (in terms of the transmission), and cheaper cars that Aston offerred after the Vanquish, so the value of the Vanquish dropped heavily once the DB9 and later the V8 vantage got popular.

However now, the Vanquish can be regarded as more of a classic model than an old model with newer/better/cheaper models in the lineup. It has the looks that would distinguish it from the current Aston lineup and the "former flagship car" image that would result in the customers forgiving its faults. Plus the fact that it hs not been in the media much lately (since it is not in production) make it seem much more exotic than the "more commonplace" DB9 (which is itself aging).

I could be wrong, but I think that the manual (final edition) versions of the Vanquish S might even fetch more than a DBS sometime soon, with the S in general appreciating well.

And, again I do think that the Vanquish prices would increase slowly untill 2013, then drop slightly (new lineup introduction), and then continue to increase with little disruption afterwards.

Many thanks. Excellent analysis and I have to agree. Think long term a manual "S" will be a great buy.

Thank you, Boxer.
I am no economist, but I was alerted by the prices on the rise too (I like looking at classifieds in my free time). I think the Vanquish would be able to hold its value much better than the DB7, DB9 or the V8 vantage once time passes.
Considering that the prices for the older DB7 i6 bottomed out just now and the DB7 Vantage is continuing to depreciate, one can see how valuable the Vanquish is getting, probably partially due to all the attention it got at the release.

Any idea how many of each Vanquish version were produced?

I apologize for the late reply... There were 2593 total Vanquishes

50 I believe were the "ultimates" with the manual

Around 1600 (2004 figure) were the Vanquish regular built before 2004

That leaves just over 900 for the cars built after 2004 most of which were the S

These are crude estimates based on the fact that the Vanquish S premiered 2004-2005 (Fall 2004), so I assumed that none of 1600 built prior to that could have been the S, I also realize that production of the two models ran side by side for some point (think it was around a year, but dont take that as a fact) ...

However I wonder, had the 1998 concept car (that introduced most of the Vanquish body styling, the VH aluminum architecture and the Cosworth SG V-12) otherwise known as the Project Vantage been sold to anyone/ or is/was it up for sale? That car was truly a great car despite some mechanical disfunctionality.

Plus, I think AM has the ability and gave an option to convert the Vanquish transmission to a full on manual from what I heard, so there could be a bit more of those running around.

There are some Manual converted Vanq's I know a few people on the Owners forum have them.

Vanq's will go up in price that's for sure,, the difficult bit is figuring out when that is going to be, as bove could weel be after 2013 before they start to grow in value steadily.

I myself want a Vanquish as do many others I know so there is a demand for them, people are just holding out for them to drop a little more before buying.

Oddly enough I got my GT due to it's low build number only 190 worldwide.
Added to that a top guy from Aston Martin whilst giving a talk indicated that the GT was the one to buy for future investment.

Take a look at the DB7 Zagato for pricing,,, doing VERY well indeed, and I hope one day the GT will start to increase.

I believe the manual conversion was a GBP 20k job if done at the factory by Aston.

Early Vanquishes look to be seriously good value these days.

well it totally depends on the market conditions in UK. if the sales continue to be good, they won't have any reason to bring down the price.
