New to the forum. I'm considering purchasing my late father's 2005 DB9 (automatic/grey/burgundy interior) from my mother. He bought the car in 2007 from an AM dealership and it only has 9k miles. It's been sitting and not driven more than a few miles for the last 10 years. Aside from tires I'm trying to get a general idea of what the maintenence cost would be to get the car back into service and if there are common issues/repairs I should be aware of and what a fair price would be. I do know that it has an issue with the battery dying which I believe is covered by the dealer under a recall. Thanks for any advice you may be able to offer.

Hi

Depends on whether you do the maintenance yourself or not.
If the car drives fine, do a normal maintenance, meaning engine oil, oil filter, engine air filter. Depending on the status of the O-rings of the throttle body, it's better to have one or two spares. They are very cheap from Scuderiaparts (all original parts) and a cabin air filter.

On my side, the OEM parts for that cost with the right oil and filters, etc. Around 490 euros, let's say 500 dollars.
And it takes me less than 30 minutes to do all.

If you now need sparks and coils, O-rings for injectors, etc., you will need 2 gaskets, 12 sparks, 12 coils, 12 O-rings up for the fuel injectors, and 12 O-rings down for the fuel injectors.
It will take several hours of labor.
If you do it yourself following all the procedures and specs, it will cost you around 3000 dollars.

Brakes depend on whether you have normal or ceramic as I do.
Just pads for my ceramic front and rear without labor, I paid in Aston Martin Luxembourg 3900 euros for just the pads.
They are a bit cheaper from Scuderiaparts.

Gearbox: The pan filter and oil are less than 450 euros, plus or minus 500 dollars for just parts, incluring the pump to pump oil in. This price is if you do it yourself. It takes around one hour of work.
2 PCV valves if you buy in the Internet between 25 to 40 dollars each in Aston around 350 each at least ( exactly same one) ..motorcraft EV- 152

Transaxle oil change: Filter, oil, etc., all cost around 300 euros if you do it yourself. Less than an hour of work.

Oil and brake changes were done in a small garage. Nothing particular, and with the garage's oil pump filling up the line system automatically, it's super easy and efficient. I paid 250 euros.

Now, if all done in an Aston Martin dealer.
In Aston, I had a price for parts changing sparks, coils, oil service, PCV, brakes (new pad set for ceramic ), oil engine change, gearbox oil change, etc... just in parts, almost 10,000 euros.
You must add labor, which is expensive. Very.
I don't have the full labor time, but all together i wiupd say 15,000 euros at minimum will be the price... maybe add another 2,000 euros for things like the auxiliary belt, etc.

But good news: You don't need to do all this big maintenance all the time. Just once to be sure. All after is just regular oil maintenance, quite cheap and easy to do yourself.

Brake fluid flush, oil and filter change, Some fuel injection cleaner and fresh tank of gas would be good place to start. Obviously the tires you already mentioned. Trans and rear diff probably are just fine. Air filter and cabin filter-they get crusty/stiff and you want to make sure some rodents have not built Hotel California in there! Get those done, check all other fluid levels and enjoy. If you notice any type of miss or misfire, whether under load or at Idle, you'll want to stop driving and deal with ASAP, before any damage to Cats occurs. You'll love it!
