Aston Martin has released details on its upgraded 2011 model DB9 which includes styling updates, engineering enhancements and equipment upgrades. Along with the V8 Vantage, Aston Martin says that the DB9 is the most successful model in the company’s history, and it’s no wonder – it’s one of the most beautiful cars ever produced.
Not messing with its gorgeous lines, styling changes for the DB9 include a new front bumper, a chromed grille and a redesigned lower intake also with chrome hexagonal-patterned mesh. New headlights, upswept sideskirts, silver brake calipers, 20-spoke diamond-turned alloy wheels and clear tail-lights also feature.
Similar to the Rapide and DBS, the new DB9 also receives a new Adaptive Damping System or ADS. It uses a switch on the centre console which firms up the dampers in Sports mode, or relaxes them in Normal mode, negating the need for a Sport Pack for the DB9 suspension.
The current DB9′s 6.0-litre V12 carries over, still propelling the sleek coupe to 100km/h in just 4.8 seconds. A choice of manual or automatic transmissions will be offered, along with new trims, and a tyre-presssure monitoring system is now standard. Bang & Olufsen’s amazing sound system will also be available as an option.
“The DB9 is the quintessential sporting grand tourer and offers an unrivalled combination of driver involvement, character, luxury and refinement,” said Aston Martin CEO, Dr Ulrich Bez. “This car combines our unique Aston Martin character with an uncompromised design philosophy, craftsmanship and trademark Aston Martin performance ability.”
Australian customers can order the facelifted DB9 right now. Customer cars will be built from July, with first deliveries expected some time in September. Updated pricing will be announced in due course.
