Hi, I'm new to this forum but have just purchased a 2009 DB9. Absolutely love the car save for its blue tooth compatibility. I'm able to connect the phone but the reception is just terrible. Any one else with the issue and how to correct it? Thanks. Thomas

altawashm,

They are used for different purposes. The SIM slot would allow the car to operate as a phone, where the bluetooth feature allows your car to act as a speakerphone extension of your cellphone.

Personally, I would prefer the bluetooth feature, as this does not require a new line on your plan, or swapping out the SIM on your phone, etc. I use the bluetooth fester regularly on my BMW

From what I can tell, these 2 features are mutually exclusive. If your car came with an inbuilt SIM slot, then there was not a bluetooth feature, and vice versa.

I own a 2007 DB 9 Volante and have the same problem. Audio quality is terrible (the people I'm speaking too can almost never hear me clearly - not at all when the top's down). I don't think there's a fix, other than possibly relocating the microphone.

Further, 9 out out 10 times, the car will disconnect from my phone (but not drop the call) about 3 seconds after I accept and incoming call by pressing the steering-wheel button. However, it seems to work OK when I make a call. I just accept this as one of those 'wonderful' Aston quirks.

I contacted the dealer who claims the blue tooth issue has to do with the microphone in the car. They've ordered an "updated" microphone for me and will install it for me. I'll let you know if that solves the issue.
