Gear Problems - 2003 Vanquish

Hoping someone can assist in diagnosing the problem - I have a 2003 Vanquish with 30K miles. When I start the car, if the electronics do not come on (ie. radio comes live, heating system comes live) then I cannot shift out of neutral - bloody frustrating - beautiful car when I can get it into gear and it works - any suggestions.
