Help! Transmission stuck in Drive

Need your help friends. My transmission was working properly when i brought my 2001 DB7 in to replace both catalytic converters. Upon piking up the vehicle I noticed the car had difficulty shifting into drive. But it did. After a half hour of driving the car, I tried parking the car but it would not go into reverse or park. It also had difficulty shifting into the lower gears. I turned off the car, but could not remove the key. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening? Could the garage have caused this while working on installing the catalytic converters, oxygen sensors or fuel filters? Thanks

Sounds like the cable that operates the shifter has been pinched.
Fix

It was a cable. Funny enough BMW had the replacement part. I also have the part number as it is a much cheaper solution than buying the whole assembly from AM.

Is there a cross reference part listing anywhere on this forum?
There is on AMOC. Be assured l am not pushing AMOC, but they
do have things which NEW clubs do not.

If you cannot find the part, try e-bay and BMW parts on there.
You will probably have to ask if it fits your car,or whether or not
they have one.
We could start a cross reference here, nothing to
stop us.
I have list of DB7 i6 parts on disc, also lists of JAG parts,
and a Haynes manual on the XJ6 +.
Will take a while but worth it.
At least l can use the insert image to get pages on here.
YES NO ??
Yes we could start a DB7 parts interchange thread here, good idea.

The one on AMOC was pretty hard to read in the format it was displayed in, and I am not convinced that the info was 100% correct, I know they seemed to omit discoveries made by non members and non UK posters.

Yes Wayne & Driveit77 agreed
we can do this and make it FREE for NON AMOC members of this FREE forum and charge the AMOC members to gain the info just like did with us!!!! LOL:D:D:D
