Does anybody know why , after putting only $10.00 worth of gas, the nozzle begins to act as if the tank is already full?

Sometimes you need to stop, pull nozzle out then push it
down through the anti syphon plate you can see in the filler
pipe.It would seem you do not have it far enough in.Do l sound
like the wife??
