Great write-up. Quite a different car from a Corvette. Read in your post that the car was a replacement to his Corvette after his wife wrecked it.

Yes, it is a different drive than a Corvette, not as fast but lighter and still rather quick and fun.

I drove a handful of times a slightly newer Corvette than this Siata, a '59 with 4 gears. Car had loads of power, uncomfortable seats, lots of noise and rumble. Certainly not an Italian car. Just read up on the history of Siata, their coach work looks very similar to some of the earlier Ferrari MMs.
