I posted the Ford Motorcraft fuel Pump part number on the alternative parts thread.

The secret to getting long life out of these small cheap quality pumps (Ford used them on a hell of a lot of common or garden products) is to keep the fuel tank as full as you can, especially in the hot summer months.

These in tank pumps rely on submersion in fuel for cooling, keeping the tank below a 1/4 full will cause problems.

How Aston Martin have got away with charging the mental money they do for the same pump is baffling, my cars PO paid a fortune for the pumps to be changed at the dealers after they miss diagnosed the problem and incorrectly changed all of the coils.:(

Gasoline (petrol) is a great heat exchange medium.

Ferrari immersed the Testarossa's air conditioning condenser in the fuel tank, which was (is) common practise in aviation (airliners) also.

More fuel = cooler running fuel pumps in the summer
